TCM Relay

Relay Information

Do you have a group of friends that enjoy running? Want to be a part of the marathon and share this experience with your friends? This is the category for you! The Michelob ULTRA Tacoma City Marathon Relay is an awesome team event that gets together a group of 5 friends for a day of adventure and camaraderie. Each leg consists of 4-6 miles and each team member receives an event t-shirt and medal!

ULTRA Relay Information
A second year event for Tacoma City Marathon events, the 3 person ULTRA Relay teams will consist of legs approximately 10 miles each. Runners will follow the marathon course with an additional 4.8 mile Ultra Extension at the Turnaround point of the Marathon. Each participant will receive an ULTRA Marathon medal and a Marathon finisher medal. ULTRA MARATHON information >> HERE

Vehicle Driving Instructions

  • PLEASE NO VEHICLES ON THE COURSE. These routes are designed to keep you off of the course.
  • Recommended way to start race for Marathon Relay: Park your Relay Vehicle on N. 52nd St. between N. Shirley St. & N. Winnifred st. Walk down to the start of the race to send your runner off. Directly after the start walk up to the 1st exchange point on N. Shirley St. to meet your first runner. This way your Relay vehicle is off the course and ready to go to the next exchange point.

Relay Criteria

Corporate Team

  • Team must consist of 5 employees from the same business.
  • Teams can consist of any denomination of males or females.
  • Awards to the top 3 corporate teams place of business.
  • Awards presented to each individual of the winning corporate team.

Mixed Relay Team

  • Each team must consist of at least two of the opposite sex. (2 males 3 Females - 3 females 2 males)
  • Awards presented to the each individual of the winning team.

Female Relay Team

  • Female relay team must consist of all females.
  • A relay member can run more than one leg but the team must have at least 4 team members to be eligible for awards.
  • Awards presented to the each individual of the winning team.

Male Relay Team

  • Male relay team must consist of all males.
  • A relay member can run more than one leg but the team must have at least 4 team members to be eligible for awards.
  • Awards presented to the each individual of the winning team.

Relay Rules and Information

  • The TCM Relay is designed for 5 persons; however, you can have 4 teammates.
  • Team Captain is responsible for signing up the team online.
  • Team Captain is responsible for collecting the teams money for their reimbursement.
  • Team Captain must input team or corporate name in the appropriate field on the registration form.
  • Team must supply their own support vehicle. Team Vehicles are NOT allowed on the course. Park off the course and walk over to the exchange point.
  • In the event someone can't run then someone else from the team can run two legs.
  • In the event a substitution is made on the team then the team captain must be sure that the NEW TEAM is in the correct division.
  • The cost of the relay is the same regardless if you have only 2 people or 5.
  • Each Relay team member will receive a technical shirt and medal.
  • Relay Teams must consist of 4 persons to be eligible for awards.

Gear Check

Gear check is provided for your personal items at the start line. Participants will be provided with a bag to use for gear check. Please tear your gear check tab off of your bib and hand it to the gear check volunteer.  Please do not put valuables in your bag. We are not responsible for lost or stolen items. You may claim your bag after you finish by providing your bib number.

Course Support (Half and Full Marathon)

Water, Nuun Electrolyte, Vaseline, and Porta-Potties will be provided at all water stations. Additionally, various aid stations will be supply energy gels. Aid Stations will be approximately every 2 miles. Medical personnel will be on the course and at the finish.

Chip Timing

All events will be chip timed by RaceWire

Pacers (Half and Full Marathon)

Pacers will be there to help you reach your goal for the full and half marathon distances.

Time Limit (Half and Full Marathon)

There is a time limit of 6 hours for the Full and Ultra Marathon (13:45 minutes per mile average pace), 4 hours for the Half Marathon (22:54 min avg. pace). All of those remaining on the course must move to the sidewalks and obey traffic laws. The timing mats, medical staff, and finish line amenities will remain at the finish until all participants have finished.  Participants requiring more than 6 hours for the Full or Ultra Marathon may start 1 hour early.  Runners taking the early start will be disqualified if they finish under 5 hours.

Awards

Awards for the Sunday Half, Full, and Ultra Marathon will be presented to the overall male and female winners, and to the overall masters male and female. Age group awards will be available to the top five in each of the following divisions: 9 & under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-80, 80 & over. Saturday's 5k ribbons will be available for age group winners at the results tent. Sunday April 29 events we will mail out awards after the race, you will be able to find your results at the results tent at the finish line day of race. Finish Line Amenities

Once you cross the finish line, you will be greeted with a variety of food and water to aid in your recovery.  Stick around, enjoy the exciting atmosphere and celebrate your accomplishment at the Michelob ULTRA beer garden located at Race Headquarters inside Farrelli's Pizza. Enjoy breakfast pizza and Michelob ULTRA Beer specials! All ages welcome, 21 and over on the Farrelli's balcony overseeing the finish line! Race to the ULTRA and join us starting at 7:00am Saturday and Sunday!
